Medstrom Launches Bed Mover

Medstrom is pleased to announce the launch of a truly universal bed mover developed by StaminaLift in Australia that will revolutionise the way beds and trolleys are transported in hospitals.

The Staminalift has been designed to ensure the widest possible compatibility with beds and stretchers available on the market, it will fit easily and safely to a wide width of bed frames and, “drive “ the bed or trolley around the hospital reducing the need for staff to push or pull products,  therefore reducing the incidence of staff injury.  In addition it will turn in a 360 degree circle prevenitng the pulling requires on some bedmovers when turning corners.

Having many years’ experience in the bed mover market it has become apparent that most hospitals don’t only have the need to move one type of general medical bed, but often have the challenge of moving a complex mix of general beds and trolleys. In addition a more pressing challenge is presented by the risks involved in moving large, wide beds that are designed to support bariatric patients.

This product will do it all it will fit on virtually any bed on the market, provides hospitals with huge flexibility and reduces the risks accociated with manual handling; which in the UK amounts to on average 80,000 injuries a year!

The Staminalift 5000 can travel 20 Km a day without needing to be charged; and only short charging times are required to keep it moving.

In addition it is the quietest product on the market ensuring little or no disruption to the patient that is being transported.

StaminaLift 5000 is designed to be easy to drive and will push up to 600 Kgs easily without the risk of injury to staff.

This technology also comes with offers of clinical evidence; studies have shown that following the introduction of the StaminaLift 5000, bed moving injuries have reduced to zero.

In addition a study conducted in 2010 compared the different drive technologies across different product’s to see which one was most effective in reducing muscle activation/strain;  The unique dual drive motor in the StaminaLift was found to significantly reduce muscle effort, particularly in the muscles of the lumber spine, thus reducing the risk of back injury to staff.

The operator can drive, turn and brake with a single toggle stick in his hand, and this allows the operator to walk with a normal posture in a normal way - massively improving his safety during the many Kilometres of pushing products around the hospital.

The StaminaLift’s unique patented “connect & lock” jaw, allows a safe and easy connection to the bed or trolley.  It can connect at either end to suit the situation, once connected it only adds 180mm to the length of the product therefore creating no restrictions whilst moving into small areas of the hospital.

It is very common for hospital staff to push or pull beds or equipment 15 – 20 Km’s per day, in most cases staff are pushing a combined bed and patient weight that will put them at risk of work associated injury. Injury increases sick time as well as possible litigation claims and has a huge impact on costs to the health care system.
