This easy to operate function is a one touch button enabling a quick and easy seat position (up to 80 degrees) for the child. The head up position is variable and offers a more comfortable position whilst in the bed. In patients with respiratory failure or distress, sitting up not only affects comfort but also increases residual capacity in the lungs by up to 30%. The electric actuator makes this an easy and safe operation to do for the care giver, minimising the need for any manually handling of the child and still achieving a good sitting position easily, safely and efficiently. In children who are very sick, this “hands off” repositioning is beneficial to prevent stress.

Electrically operated trendelenburg and reverse trendelenburg, offers great flexibility in both patient positioning and patient care. An 18.5 degree angle can be achieved by the touch of a button.  A head up position in children can aid in getting a good sitting position, it can aid in postural lung drainage, or can be used to improve general lung capacity. In the event where a child is being sick the head up position can be selected quickly and easily to prevent aspiration of vomit.    

The mattress platform is fully height adjustable from 500mm to 900mm at the touch of a button, this allows the safest position to be chosen for the child’s needs, Each child will have different levels of mobility and different levels of observation requirements. The electrically adjustable height allows care staff to individually assess the child’s needs and choose the safest position. In addition the height chosen can hugely benefit the carer to ensure they carry out nursing procedures with a straight back, and don’t need to be stooped over the cot at any time – thus reducing the risk of back injury

To allow complete flexibility in every care setting - this product has the ability to extend in length by 300mm – this is done with a touch of a button using the electric actuator. The platform size extends from 1600 – 1900 mm allowing paediatric areas to customise and use this product for a large age group of children – providing a real cost effective solution. As the frame extends the side rails also automatically extend, the extension arm extends on a strong extension gliding system maintaining the strength and stability of the product at all times.  Once extended the gap is filled with a section of ABS  that is normally housed under the body section.

If the bed extension function is not in use the ABS section detailed above can be used as a linen holder.

The conventional side rail design , has 3 locking positions ensuring safety in all aspects of the child’s care. They’re easy to use allowing care staff and family to access the child easily without the need to bend or stoop this reducing the risk of injury, whilst also allowing easy locking if the child is to be left unattended.  The side rails extend automatically by 300mm to bridge the gap if the platform is extended thus, ensuring safety at all times.

It is well documented that colour has a positive stimulating effect in children; in children with neurological problems research has shown the use of pink or ivory is best for these children. And many other studies showing that colour stimulation helps verbalisation and progression of ADHD, and children with severe behavioural problems.  Another key influence of colour is accelerated learning in young children where colours such as green and blue pink and yellow are recommended. When considering visual stimulation,  it is important to use colours - eyes are the most influential of all our senses and clearly have positive impact on children in many different ways.  With Infants, visual stimulation is an important activity to perform for the baby since of the five senses; vision is the least developed sense a baby has at birth. Babies who receive a good amount of visual stimulation develop vision faster than the ones who don't.
