This unique design allows complete visibility and observation of the child whilst they are nursed in the cot, the construction of a steel coated frame and injection moulded Plexiglas headboard footboard and side rails offers a real visual management opportunity for busy paediatric ward areas. The construction maintains the strength and stability of the product whilst offering a very lightweight product that is easy to move. Plexiglas unlike conventional side rails are extremely easy and quick to clean. They can be wiped down quickly and any fluid spills are not hidden, but easily seen, and can be quickly removed to prevent any harbouring of infection.
The easy to operate functions allows a quick and easy seat position (up to 72degrees) for the child, the head up position is variable dependant on the patient and offers more comfort whilst in the bed, In patients with respiratory failure or distress, sitting up not only affects comfort but also increases residual capacity in the lungs by up to 30 % . The gas assisted movement makes this an easy and safe operation to do for the care giver, minimising the need for manually handling the child and still achieving a good sitting position easily, safely and efficiently.
Manual trendelenburg and reverse trendelenburg, offers great flexibility in both patient positioning and patient care. A 12 degree angle can be achieved by easily moving the platform into one of 3 pre-set positions
The mattress platform is fully height adjustable, allowing the safest position to be chosen for the child’s unique needs, Each child will have different levels of mobility and different levels of observation requirements, the manually adjustable height allows care staff to individually assess the child’s needs and choose the safest position. In addition the height chosen can hugely benefit the carer to ensure they carry out nursing procedures with a straight back, and don’t need to be stooped over the cot at any time – thus reducing the risk of back injury.
As well as offering many colour choices to fit with the new modern environments, colourful products also offer many other benefits to the child. It is well documented that colour has a positive stimulating effect in children; children with neurological problems research has shown the use of pink or ivory is best for these children (Sensory stimulation in Autistic children - AJ Paroon-Wilder). And many other studies showing that colour stimulation helps verbalisation and progression of ADHD, and children with severe behavioural problems. Another key influence of colour is accelerated learning in young children where colours such as green and blue pink and yellow are recommended. When considering visual stimulation, it is important to use colours - eyes are the most influential of all our senses and clearly has positive impact on children in many different ways With Infants visual stimulation is an important activity to do for the baby since of the five senses, vision is the least developed sense a baby has at birth.
Babies who receive a good amount of visual stimulation develop vision faster than the ones who don't
